Your Free Meta Ray-Ban Display Glasses

Your Free Meta Ray-Ban Display Glasses

We're giving away three pairs of the Meta Ray Ban AI-Powered Display Glasses to three readers.

As you may or may not know, Meta is working on a reality where smart glasses eventually replace your smartphone. Dr. Strange, I mean Mark Zuckerberg is super passionate about this, so much so that in just 11 months he's got working glasses with a price tag, style, and purchase date; Sept 30.

Their flagship glasses are the Meta Ray-Ban Displays, available starting September 30 at $799. Zuck, thank me later for the free ad.

But this is more than just aesthetics and tech, this is an AI move. Our friend Zuck is obsessed with winning the AI race. And so far he actually is winning, as far as smart AI glasses are concerned.

But this is Meta we're talking about. You know they had to do smart AI glasses the Meta way; Meta's AI, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Maps. It's essentially Meta's limited ecosystem. But don't get fooled by the word, 'limited' in this context. Reviewers genuinely think these glasses aren't just a step in the right direction, but completely awesome in and off themselves.

Here's a little bit of what you can do with them; you can auto focus on and translate a live conversation in English, Spanish, French, and Italian. YouTubers who've tried them like Mrwhosetheboss and Marques Brownlee report a slight delay in the translation process. I guess you'll have to smile and nod during this brief delay.

They also have a navigation system that guides you in a walk-by-walk and turn-by-turn futuristic way.

But this is just the tip of the iceberg, there's a lot more you can do with these glasses. Like interacting with them like you do your other AI tools. You can ask them to identify objects in front of you, animate, research, and my personal favorite; cook a meal in real-time. A lot of marriages and relationships with in-laws might get saved by this one.

These glasses are controlled by a wrist band that accurately reads your hand's gestures and movements. This band allows you to reply to messages by literally writing on any surface, voice typing or dictation is also reportedly more accurate than it is on your phone.

As good as these glasses are though, their functionality is limited. They don't have an app store or support third party apps yet and you can't use them without a phone.

I wonder how our phones must be feeling right now, being temporarily complemented by a companion that'll one day outgrow and replace you. It's the smartphone version of training your replacement. Poor smartphone!

As mentioned above, we'll be giving away three pairs of these glasses to three readers between October 20 to October 30. To stand a chance to win, send us a detailed article sharing what you think of smart AI glasses eventually replacing our phones. More importantly, what do you think of Meta being the one leading the smart AI glasses race? Any privacy concerns on your end?

Happy start to the week.

Your friend,

Matt Masinga
